Mental Health Matters-
Growing in Community
This summer, 22 young artists, ages 14-20 worked to create mental health posters for the community. Led by Jess Early, each intern chose a topic that was of interest to them and completed research and a poster outline. They learned about basic elements of design and about careers in graphic design from Umutesi Karinganire. They also created an original character and symbol using Procreate on iPads to draw viewers to look at the posters. Then they put it together using Canva and made sure they had important elements like causes, effects and resources with QR codes about the topic. They created a simple version of the poster that can be printed and hung at DHA’s resident buildings with QR codes that go to the more detailed posters that are housed here. Each intern wrote a personal statement to go with their poster and you can read those as well as see the more in depth poster by clicking on each image, then clicking "go to link" at the bottom.
