Physical Arts

Art for the body and the mind.
Tues. & Thurs. 2:45–4:15

Session I

Yoga for the people: Yoga for the People classes are an adventure and journey! The one–hour classes will focus on flowing through yoga postures, but will also include history and philosophical foundations of Vinyasa–style yoga. The class is a way to strengthen your body while also becoming more aware of your mind and spirit, and is for the yoga beginner as well as those who have practiced yoga before.
Teaching Artist: Kate Ross, Kate received her teacher training through CorePower Yoga and has been teaching for over four years. She is the Executive Director of Yoga for the People.
Teaching Artist: Lorendia Schmidt, Lorendia received her teacher training through CorePower Yoga in the summer of 2007

Session II

Capoeira: Brazilian–African expression of culture that combines music, martial arts and dance into a dynamic game. Capoeira is a powerful expression of beauty and freedom.
Teaching Artist: Lewis Leese, AKA Beringela, has 9 years training in Capoeira. He has participated in over 100 Capoeira workshops and special events around the US. He is an instructor and part owner at Canto do Galo.

Session III

Creative Writers & Performers: A Collaboration: Writers, poets, storytellers, actors and actresses all come together in this class. Sharpen you skills or try something new . All abilities are welcome!
Teaching Artist: Andrea Moore, Professional writer, director and performer with over ten years of experience, both locally and in the cities of Boston, London, New York, and Los Angeles.

Visual Arts

Try your hand at a variety of art mediums and styles. Beginning of each class will be devoted to basic drawing skills. The remainder of the class will be project based learning. This class is great for all levels of ability.

Join the class for 1, 2 or all 3 sessions!

Session II 102– Found object sculpture

Thursday 2:45–4:15

Teaching Artist: Karen Eberle–Smith, Professional Artist with 17 yrs. Teaching

Video Mapping

If a picture is worth a thousand words then a map must be worth a million. Use maps and video to tell a story or communicate an idea. Try mixing Arts with Technology to create web site ready video and GIS maps. In this class the left side of your brain meets the right.

Tues. & Thurs 3:15–4:30 This class runs through all 3 sessions. Lead teacher: Robb Menzies, GIS Specialist

Open Studio

Love making art? Ready to take the next step? Want to learn more about new mediums or further explore your own style? Open Studio is for you! This is your time to work on your own art ideas. Be mentored by professional artists, and be inspired by your peers. Open Studio has open enrollment you can join at any time.

Fridays 4:00–6:00

Teaching Artist: Nicole Banowetz, Professional Sculptor and Arts Street Alumni.
